The journal publishes articles on a wide range of issues related to the formation of sedimentary rocks and ores. The publication's focus includes: problems of lithological theory (types of lithogenesis, stages of formation of sedimentary rocks and ores, patterns of their distribution in the earth's crust, evolution of the sedimentary process in the history of the Earth); mineralogy, geochemistry and petrography of sedimentary rocks and ores; problems of sedimentary and hydrothermal-sedimentary ore formation; modern sedimentation in lakes, seas, oceans; methods of studying and experimental studies of the sedimentary process. Particular attention is paid to materials comparing ancient and modern sedimentary rock and ore formation. A large place in the journal is occupied by a comparative analysis of the sedimentary process on the continents and in the World Ocean, as well as genetic aspects of the formation of sedimentary and hydrothermal-sedimentary minerals.
